November at Pre-school and Calendar Launch

November has been another busy month so far at Pre-School.
The children have been following this month’s theme of shapes and colours, this week they have been cooking and baking, including making and decorating gingerbread biscuits and obviously they enjoyed eating them.
Over the next few weeks they will be learning about Clowns, Treasure Island and Christmas.

Also November sees the launch of St Kew Pre-Schools Calendar for 2009,
The calendar has been kindly sponsored by generous donations from many local businesses and families, which means that all proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go towards Pre-School funds. We are looking to enhance our outdoor play area with new play equipment and toys.

A few of the local interest groups are featured in the monthly pages, including Allen Valley singers, St Kew WI, St James the Great Church, Photos of the St Kew
Bell Ringers in action at the church and many interesting facts and photos regarding the Pre-School and the Parish Hall.
Also included are contemporary professional photographs of the Pre-School children playing in the garden and having fun.
The calendar has spaces for all your diary dates, notes and useful telephone numbers.

A cheerful calendar to have at home, or an ideal Christmas gift.

Copies are available at £5 each, from The Book shop-Wadebridge, Cornwall Farmers, Cole Rayment & White, Bricknells , St Kew Costcutters or contact Penny Warne on 01208 880307.

St Kew Pre-School have places available for children 2 years and over, Prices for a session ( 9.15am-12.15noon) starting from only £5.50. We are also part of the flexible funding scheme for 3 & 4 year olds.

October at Pre-School

This month the Pre-School children have been learning about “Their amazing bodies”, Topics include- “what we eat” and “what our feet can do”.
Following this theme, the children enjoyed a lovely walk on the Camel Trail in the recent sunshine. We saw lots of species of birds on the river and even managed to pick some blackberries.

Now the weather is turning colder, Tuesday afternoons are an ideal opportunity to come along to our baby and toddler group. Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on a different activity each week, starting with Cutting Playdough shapes, the following week learning to paint different shapes.
The group gives parents a chance to meet and have a coffee/tea and allow the children to experience a pre-school environment.
Drink & snacks provided for the children – Baby changing facilities – Free parking.

Finally a date for your diary, Saturday 6th December is our annual Christmas Craft Fayre at the Parish Hall, the parents are busy making lots of lovely crafts for Christmas, including gifts & cards.

The children seem to have settled in well at pre- school this term, thanks to Heather for settling them back in gently.
The new look is really great, the Parish Hall Committee worked hard to get it ready in time for the new term.
Things did seem a little strange at first as all the`big' children have left to go to primary school.
Hopefully they are all getting on ok and enjoying it.

Some of the the children's friendships have moved around which has been interesting to see how the dynamics of the group have changed.
Emily has said a few times she misses `big' Jess, Nancy and a few others also she realised Sam wont be there to rescue her when she gets stuck on the climbing net but she knows she will still see them at Learning Together so shes happy with that.

The new Committee members have been elected and everyone is getting on with thinking of fundraising ideas, which is a brilliant start to the year. Thank you.
The main focus at the mo is compiling a calender so its ready to sell at the Christmas fayre.
Anyone with ideas please speak to Penny or Gemma.

It was great to see so many at` Toddlers today' hopefully we can encourage others from outside the pre-school to come along too.

Back to School

Well most of the leavers from last year had their first day at St Kew School today, there were a few tears this morning...more from the parents than the children I think but it was all smiles at the school gates this afternoon. I asked Ellie what she did at school today to which she replied "I can't remember" I'm convinced this is the first thing they are taught...how to respond to such questioning. She assured me she would take a pen and paper to write it down tomorrow in case she forgets again!

Anyway I digress. Pre-School will be opening its doors again on Monday 8th September. They have been busy putting on a new roof and re-decorating inside all summer. I had a sneaky look this morning and it is looking fantastic.

The first event in the hall is the St Kew Gardening Association Annual Show on Saturday, open to the public at 3pm. Admission is free and everyone is welcome so if you are at a loose end why not pop along and support them. Lianne is hoping her courgettes reach 6 inches by Saturday and I understand Mrs Howard's Victoria Sandwich is the one to beat. Look out for the purple carrots....

We have to put everything back in the hall this Sunday so if anyone can come along at 10 am to help it would be most appreciated.

Thursday...

Well we didn't manage to get together last week, I think everyone was determined to make the most of the sunshine, Laura and Jamie headed to Daymer, Jane went out on her bike and I stayed home in the garden. Sarah came up with Tikvah, Steffi, Esther, Joe and Olivia and Jo brought up Grace, Oliver and William. William promptly locked Jo's car keys in the car...blocking everyone in!

We had the bouncy castle out and the water slide...it took me a while to locate the suntan lotion! We even needed the parasol up for a while. Mind you we ended up going for a walk in the rain in the afternoon!

Anyone any ideas for this week? It would be great to meet up...and please feel free to add to this blog, drop me an e-mail and I'll add you as an author.

Thurs 21st Aug

No plans as yet...let's wait and see what the weather is like! Give me a call in the morning.

Wednesday 13 August 2008

Rain rain and more rain!

Well it looks like more rain again tomorrow so we have abandoned any plans to venture out and thought we would head back to the Crazy Camel in Wadebridge..it is one way to guarantee the sun popping out...organise something for indoors! Meet at 10.30 or thereabouts. If it does turn out to be sunny we could head across to Egloshayle park.

Saturday 9 August 2008

Thursday...There will be sunshine!!!

We are planning to meet at Daymer on Thursday, so fingers crossed for some sunshine! 10.30 and we will try for the same place we occupied during our pre-school visit...bottom of the steps and turn right. If the weather is looking doubtful we thought we would put on the wet weather gear and walk along the camel trail from Helland. We'll have a ring around Thursday morning.

This is what our school looked like when I visited today!

Change of Plan

It looks like it is going to be wet again tomorrow so we are going to meet at the Soft Play area in Wadebridge Pannier Market at 10.30 instead.

Friday 1 August 2008

Next Thursday

We are planning to meet at Lanhydrock on Thurs (7th Aug). There is a wooded play area and cafe by the car park, see you there at 11.30. By the way the Crazy Camel play area at the old Jewson Site in Wadebridge is great for toddlers if they need to let off steam for a couple of hours with all this delightful weather we have been having!

Wednesday 30 July 2008

Meeting up Thurs

As the weather is looking doubtful for tomorrow we thought we would meet at the soft play area in the Pannier Market in Wadebridge at 10.30 instead of the Strawberry Farm. Hope to see you there.

Tuesday 22 July 2008

Daymer Bay

What a fantastic day we had at Daymer today. We arrived at about 9.30 and the skies were looking grey but within an hour the sun came out and it was glorious, I even managed a swim in the sea. The children had a great time racing in and out of the water and building sand castles. I forgot my camera again but hopefully someone will have some photos!

Monday 21 July 2008

wow sports day was great fun today!
It took me back a few years all though I dont remember having
to put on a scarf, hat, high heels and run at my school which was quite funny.
It looked like the children had fun too!!!
Emily certainly enjoyed it, she is very proud of her medal and the fact she had taken part in sports day.
And it didnt rain.
Lets hope it stays nice and sunny for our beach trip tommorrow.

Wednesday 16 July 2008

We have been learning about all kinds of machines this term. On Tuesday 15th July Ken brought his tractor down to the school car park for the children to look at and have a turn to sit on. We loved the bright blue and orange colours and the loud noise of the engine. Thank you Ken!

Saturday 12 July 2008

Camel Trail

We all met at Wadebridge on Thurs and set off with bikes and buggies along the camel trail. There were a few falls, William fell into a ditch early on but soon got the hang off it, I think he would have cycled to Padstow given half a chance. Ellie crashed into a ditch full off water and was soaked...luckily we manged to borrow some dry clothes.

We stopped of for a snack almost halfway to Padstow and the children played by the estuary. It took a little longer on the way back, tired little legs needed pushing on their bikes.

Monday 7 July 2008

Trevathan Strawberry Farm

We had a great trip to the farm...apart from the weather once again. Rain seems to be a recurring theme for our outings at the moment. Luckily it didn't last too long and we managed to pick several punnets of delicious strawberries. Fingers crossed the sun will shine for our annual trip to Daymer Bay!

Sunday 25 May 2008

Half Term

Enjoy the holiday... if you fancy meeting up a few of us are going to the Strawberry Farm at 11am on Tuesday.

Monday 19 May 2008

Lisa

Lisa is now online!!!!

Sunday 18 May 2008

Newquay Zoo

We had a lovely outing to the Zoo on Friday, even if it was a bit wet! The children didn't seem too bothered by the rain. We started the day with a workshop entitled Fur Feathers and Scales where the children learnt all about the different textures and had close encounters with a lizard, a giant snail and a stick insect!

They all loved pretending to monkeys on the jungle assault course.....

And just to prove it was a very wet day have a look at how high the water level was at the ford on the way back to pre-school!

Friday 9 May 2008

Parish Hall Spring Fayre

It's the Spring Fayre on Saturday 10th May....10.30am in the Parish Hall. Please come along and support it, cakes for the cake stall and tombola prizes would be most appreciated.
